What are main attractions in Los Angeles?

Posted by admin on November 17th, 2010 and filed under city walk studios | 4 Comments »

I just moved to Los Angeles 6 weeks ago. My family is coming to visit and im wondering where to bring them besides the place we already have picked out which are: disney, malibu beach, six flags, universal studios, city walk, dogers game, and the groove/fairfax.

Often referred to as "The People’s Republic of Santa Monica," they manage their homeless population in unique ways. Meanwhile, they do have their touristy-type draws. The Newport Beach Fashion Island is also very interesting (it’s where we first found the "Restoration Hardware" shop.) It’s a walk, but it’s colorful. Speaking of walk, don’t walk the beach bike path, but buy, rent, or borrow bikes and do bike this path. You’ll find walkers and skaters on it, but not too many since they know it is a bike only path. You can visit multiple California beaches in one day. Speaking of beaches, my sister is a big fan of kayaking, and one can also rent kayaks and paddle around various sites (I’ve not the upper body strength for that sort of thing, but my daughters enjoy going on these jaunts.) This Saturday, they’ll be at Alamitos Bay at 10:00 a.m. Other beaches are available, and one kayak route (I’m told) even has a paddle-up Starbucks. No word on where one takes the bladder afterwards, tho. Up here in Claremont (eastern edge of L.A. County), in the north end of the city, we have our own "Wilderness Trail" which really does loop thru the foothills. While it’s not as much "wilderness" as one might think (given all the folks on it in the morning), it does have wildlife (that come down to visit at night and dine with us) and connects to a veer off trail that goes to the top of Potato Mountain (they really named it that.) You left Knott’s Berry Farm out of the Theme Park list, and that’s my personal favorite (I like the up and down rides, mainly). Instead of a Dodger’s Game, I recommend driving a bit farther to Rancho Cucamonga and seeing a Quakes game. It’s A level baseball and they put on more of a show as a result. And home runs there are a hoot. Save the Universal Studios until Halloween; then you get more than your money’s worth. Also within reach are the Getty Museum, which is pay-for parking and free admission (!) Really. And they let folks bring their picnic lunches (but the food they sell there is pretty good, too). A site that is also cool but does not let one bring food in is the Arboretum in Arcadia: be prepared to walk, tho you’ll recognize the lake and house from a zillion TV shows.

do you have to buy a universal studios park ticket to get into city walk? (orlando)?

I really don’t want to pay like, 75$ to get into City Walk.

No, you don’t have to have any type of ticket to get into CityWalk; admission to this area is totally free. You will, however, have to pay to park in the Universal parking garage if you are driving yourself there. Regular parking is $14.00; between the hours of 6:00PM and 10:00PM parking is $3.00.

Is the House of Blues (in Orlando) at Downtown Disney or City Walk?

I know the address but I don’t know which place it’s near. Some people tell me Downtown Disney, others say City Walk by Universal Studios. Anyone know which it really is?

It is most definitely at Downtown Disney.

My friend and I hung out in front of it for a while, and perused the gift shops.

So, yeah, it’s there.

do they they throw fireworks in universal studios city walk?

No, there is not any good place to do that there. However they do have them in the theme parks.

Ballroom Dancing? How do I get my parents to agree?

Posted by admin on November 6th, 2010 and filed under fred astaire studios | 1 Comment »

I am 14 years old and have never danced in my life. My whole life is piano and my parents spend about $60 on me a week, not to mention all the camps and competitions I do. I haven’t done anything else and now would like to ballroom dancing too. I’d like to learn at Fred Astire Dance Studio in Williamsville NY, but I don’t know what the cost is and if my parents would let me.

My questions are:

I know price varies, but how much would it cost to have one private lesson a week and 3 group lessons?

How do I tell my parents that I want to take ballroom dancing?

Is Fred Astaire Dance Studio a good studio to go to?

If my parents say no, can I convince them to let me try it, and how?

I suggest you trying other dance styles such as jazz, ballet, and lyrical they are fun.
But i think for ballroom dancing you would just pay 1 price for like 3 months. The price would be like

250 dollars maybe.

Say "mom dad i wanna do more with my life more than piano, i wish to take dance lessons.

I dont know if thats a good studio.
IF they say no say i really want to try thislet me try it for a month and well see please.

How can I get discounts on tickets at Universal Studios Florida?

Posted by admin on November 3rd, 2010 and filed under universal studios discount tickets | 2 Comments »

My boyfriend and I are planning a trip to Florida this summer and we really want to go to Universal. (I want to go to the Wizarding world of Harry Potter) The tickets are outrageous! Does anyone know if there are any ways to get discounts or maybe if there is a day of the week where they are discounted? I know that buying them online will save us $10 on each ticket. Were thinking we want to go to both Universal parks for the day. But we may just go to Islands of Adventure. Thanks so much!

:)

Nope, premier parks like Universal and Disney don’t do special day discounts or anything. Military families and Florida residents are pretty much the only ones eligible for discounts. You will sometimes see some very questionable unauthorized dealers who claim they have discounts, but I wouldn’t trust them.

Online is your best bet. Personally, if you are going to be there during the summer (the busiest time of year, plus crowds will be higher because of Harry Potter opening), I would just go to Islands if I only had one day.

Time Share Disney Park Tickets & Universal Studio Tickets?

Does anyone know of any legitimate Time Share sit-ins to get free or discounted Disney & Universal Studio tickets?

You might want to contact Disney Vacation Club directly and see if they have any promotions. Be forwarned that these tickets come with the price of a long sales presentation designed to turn the most negative people into timeshare buyers.

How do I plan a trip to Disneyland and Universal Studios in Los Angeles?

Posted by admin on October 29th, 2010 and filed under los angeles studios | 2 Comments »

My friends and I are trying to plan our senior trip to Socal
We are going to fly down there so we will not have a car available
The trip to the hotel (Days Inn or perhaps other options) near Disney doesn’t seem like a big problem, however, we are trying to figure out a way to get to universal studios in the morning and be back at the hotel by night
what are some good suggestions???
please help! thank you!

Universal Studios offers a shuttle. You might also consider a Southern California CityPass, and get discounted Disneyland and Universal Studios tickets.
