I am 14 years old and have never danced in my life. My whole life is piano and my parents spend about $60 on me a week, not to mention all the camps and competitions I do. I haven’t done anything else and now would like to ballroom dancing too. I’d like to learn at Fred Astire Dance Studio in Williamsville NY, but I don’t know what the cost is and if my parents would let me.
My questions are:
I know price varies, but how much would it cost to have one private lesson a week and 3 group lessons?
How do I tell my parents that I want to take ballroom dancing?
Is Fred Astaire Dance Studio a good studio to go to?
If my parents say no, can I convince them to let me try it, and how?
I suggest you trying other dance styles such as jazz, ballet, and lyrical they are fun.
But i think for ballroom dancing you would just pay 1 price for like 3 months. The price would be like
250 dollars maybe.
Say "mom dad i wanna do more with my life more than piano, i wish to take dance lessons.
I dont know if thats a good studio.
IF they say no say i really want to try thislet me try it for a month and well see please.
Looking for a copy of a Fred Astaire dance studio bronze syllabus. Am thinking of entering into the bronze program after finishing up Social Foundations here soon. Thanks!
Your instructor may give you the checksheet, but if you’re looking for the breakdown book, they guard those things closely. The chain studios aren’t open like DVIDA. The checksheet lists the names of the figures, but they tend not to be very revealing. For instance, one of the bronze tango figures is named La Cumparsita, which is the title of an old tango standard bit of music, but tells you nothing about the figure. I’d suggest you keep a journal and write them down as you learn them. When I was a FADS student, I thought I’d never forget the syllabus, but after a few years away from Fred, I can’t remember half.
