Thrill rides are my favorite, so I like Islands of Adventure better. Hulk, Dueling Dragons, Spiderman, Jurassic Park, Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls and the Barges are my favorites. However, Islands is only good for about a half to 3/4 a day for me.
The advantage of Universal Studios is it is bigger with more to do! They have finally added a couple good coasters fairly recently, the Mummy and the newest, Rip Ride Rockit. Several older rides based on old movies but that are still fun. And a few good shows/live performances, too.
So just for quick thrills, Islands. For a full-day, more varied experience, Universal Studios. For very small kids, there’s much more to do at Universal Studios.

Depends on age. Can"t go wrong with either.

They’re both great, but it really depends on what you like to do. There is certainly more to do at Islands of Adventure, and more actual rides (a lot of what’s at Universal Studios is 3-D/4-D shows). Islands of Adventure is better if you’re more into thrill rides. Universal Studios is more involved in movies and movie production. I usually prefer Islands over Universal.
