With the announcement of the Universal Studios ticket prices, is the price reasonable to draw people there?

Visitors are one step closer to visiting Southeast Asia’s first and only Universal Studios theme park opening on Sentosa’s Resorts World, now that ticket prices have been revealed.

Sale of tickets shouldn’t be too far on the horizon with Resorts World Sentosa announcing on Wednesday its one-day, two-day and express pass ticket prices that range from S$32 to S$118 to access all attractions.

With the announcement of the Universal Studios ticket prices, is the price reasonable to draw people there?

I think the prize is quite high for a start. Not everyone can afford the proposal prize to draw more people there. My suggestion is If can consider a reasonable family package of four or five people’s ticket prize may be better. I think the Ticket’s prize between $50 & $25 for Adult and Child is good and reasonable than as compare to the current proposal prizes at $66 for Adult and $48 for child.

118 SGD sounds okay for me IF the amusement park equipment, security are good enough. Anyway, I need to see what can I play, what will I get. If the whole park contains less than 10 stations (10 things to play). I’d consider again.

I think it is quite reasonable if they are bringing in world class rides and attractions. Imagining you have to spend at least 2 thousand dollars to bring yourself to the Universal Studio in the US. Moreover, it is also cheaper compare to taking the ‘big wheel’ which last about 30 minutes.

    S$118 is way too high!

The price shouldn’t be the reason to draw people there. If indeed one of the reasons why people go is because of cheap tickets, then the value of the attraction itself is lowered.

I feel that S$118 for 2 day or even S$66 for 1 day can be a bit too high at this point where we don’t even know how are the attractions. I guess that if they can work out some membership plans and family card type scheme, this would attract even more people.

If the universal studios are of the same scale and exciting as australia. Then its worth the cost. Consider the money that can be saved when school hoildays come and for parents to bring their children to have fun w/o needing to go overseas to enjoy something like U. studios.

i think out of 100 people only less than 10 people would be going down to the universal studios as i feel that its really too much and the average living people that’s for sure they wont be going.child’s tickets are priced at adults price, which i feel that its too much,1 thing for sure is that people from overseas will be going to the theme park only

sounds reasonable for a well known theme park, but hope it is not another HK Disneyland you will not get repeat visitors. The bottom line is value for money.

I guess its cheap for tourists and high income family…but for people like me whose total income is less than SGD2000.00 per month, three kids and a grandpa and grandma,…sigh! guess my kids have got to wait for me to save up..but Im sure there will be lots of people who can afford to go there..congrats! For those low income family, we just have to save up every penny.
I just hope the kids in school wont be talking bout it, cos it saddened me to tell my sons, we can’t afford it.

If the park attractions & facilities lived up it reputation and offers a standard that matches or even rivals other similar theme park, then it can justify its ticket price. In short, if the park delivers on its promises, what is $72,$52….? Tourists pay air tickets, hotel accommodation. What people look for is quality. Money can be earned. A great time have to be experienced.

It cost 160 sin $ around for a 2 day pass for tokyo disney land. It cost around the same for universal studio osaka.

An office clerk earn 280k yen on average in jpaan (around $4400), with lots of over time japanese can work from 8 am to 12 am mon to sat.

An office clerk in singapore can be smiling if he/she walk home with $3000 including ot a month. So ie on average japanese pay is 45% higher. With that to say singapore tickets should be half price at $90 for 2 days. So 118 is too expenisive. Perhaps there can be 2 price $120 for tourist, and 90$ for poor singaporeans.

My friend just go genting stay 1 night with 3 meals and theme park access for less than $150, of cause this price is not inclusive of the few hundreds he lose to the tiger machine at the casino lol.

So in short discount pricing for singaporeans. But then it makes me wonder whom would come to singapore for this theme park. China and taiwan can go to hk disney land, japanese go to their own themepark, koreans have their own themepark, malysisa have genting, euro have many themeparks, US has even more themepark, south american can go to US themepark, Russia go to euro theme park. Austrlia has many themepark also. So left only indonesia, vietnam, thailand, cambodia, and africa. But how many visitor can those country bring, beside they may have their own parks also. So ultimately singaporeans would make up a big portion of the visitor so decrease the price for singaporean. Make singaporean like tokko disney land where majority of the visitor is japanese, and not like HK disney land where you can hardly find a hongkie in HK disney land

But enough rant, sure people are going to come at those prices to see movie themed rides, sets and people walking around to greet others.

sure, the price is reasonable. it’s new and will be a novelty for the beginning few years but as time goes by, since the population of singapore is small, attendance will dwindle. they will compete with the other theme parks in the region like those in australia, hk, korea and japan. but the universal studios is still a global brand and they need to upgrade constantly to keep people coming in thru their turnstiles. i’m not sure whether they have the complementary enttertainment, dining and shopping next to the park as they have here in california. that helps to increase attendance. they should also implement annual season passes (i’m sure they will, it’s the same management). attendances in universal st here , both in california and florida, has dropped since the economy tanked. likewise for disneyland and disney world. i have not seen much efforts to boost attendance. i guess the profits they made during the good times are able to see them thru the bad. so you can imagine how much margins the price of each ticket makes. so if universal studios singapore prices their tickets as such you can be assured that it is reasonable and also enough for them to keep their employees paid and update and upgrade their parks.

Whatever evidence or reasoning I am going to post have already been posted here, about tourist, about holiday, about our income etc.
There’s only ONE thing i am concern with, as Singaporeans, and this being our country and homeland, why are we charged tourist rates?

I find that the ticket price for the adult & child is a bit too expensive. If the management wants singaporeans to bring their children more often to the universal studios, the prices should be slashed. Then only we will have the urge to visit again & again. Or they can introduce a membership program for the universal studio admission at an effordable pricing. Well, I hope something will be done so tha both parties will be happy….

they should bring down the prices for us singaporeans, and should be keeping in mind that not all singaporeans can afford a rate this high. there are families, WITH children, WITH financial problems, trying hard to cope with singapore’s standard of living, while earning very little. so the prices should be brought down for us singaporeans!

    bottom line: too expensive!

Intially, there will be alot of interest due to pent up demand. In the long run, it may be like Universal Studios in California, when you buy a day pass, you can automatically convert it to 1-year season pass at no extra cost. What this means is that the season pass is not much hgher than the 1 day pass. We Singaporeans are more interested in season pass rather than a single price ticket entry.

So long as this is a per entry ticket with unlimited ride and accessible to all internal sub-entries is alright. Operators will over the times or years impose additional entry charges to certain attraction that will tick us off as the feeling is

From a typical Singaporean’s point of view, it will take time for people to actually accept that price.
It will seem, kind of unreasonable. Because, Singapore’s Escape theme park has a much more lower price which i think, will draw more Singaporeans there.

On the other hand, the IR’s theme park will attract more tourist.

Maybe, time will just prove it all.

Seriously its too damn EXPENSIVE to spend this kind of money in my own backyard!!! I would rather go overseas for a family holiday. With budget air tickets and hotels at such low prices, we could already afford a 3D2N family trip to Phuket, Langkawi or Redang for the same price! There is no reason we should settle for man-made island Sentosa??

Furthermore $118 per person doesn’t bring you there. There is still an admission fee to pay to enter Sentosa. Assuming you buy the $118 ticket for 2-day admission, you have to pay 2X admission fees to Sentosa as well!!!!!!!

The people behind Universal Studios must be day-dreaming in their own world to charge such exorbitant prices. However the reality is that Singaporeans being so well-travelled are not stupid.

Its stupidly expensive…just to take my 1 daughter there I have to pay, what, S$104 bucks? That’s insane! Add food and refreshment and you are looking at $150-$200 for a day out for one adult and 1 kid! I complain at Wild Wild Wet and Zoo prices! Anyone who thinks these prices are ok, clearly makes more money than me! lol

I will say that it is no more or less expensive than other theme parks worldwide, on average, but if someone could tell me why its OK for local attractions to be expensive just because others are overseas, then I would be grateful cos I don’t get it. Expensive is expensive, end of. And as for Universal trying to make it sound like a bargain…are they having a laugh?

I don’t agree on two prices – one for Singaporeans and one for tourists. Would those people who suggested that be happy if they were charged more than Australians on the Gold Coast? "Oh, why am I paying more?" "Cos you’re not Australian"….what?!

Expensive world we live in. Justifying it by comparing it to other ridiculously overpriced attractions like the Flyer or Disneyland is madness…"Oh, well, that’s progress. Pass me another $10 sandwich, please."

    Madness.

They claim that they want to reach out to everyone even the grandpas and grandmas. Just a brief calculation for a family of 6 (parents, 2 children and grandparents), the cost of the tickets is close to $300 per family not including any meals or miscellaneous expenditure. The total cost of going to this theme park can amount to almost $400. I think there are still many families out there that cannot afford this amount.

    Targeting Singaporeans?
Please, this whole Integrated Resort Idea was conceived because of the sole reason of further boosting tourism.
We have no natural wonders or brilliant architecture in this country.

Due to the financial crisis, Resorts World has to tell us this as tourism is down. Once the economy is booming again, I do expect raised prices as we all know that this resort is not meant for us.

I think it toooo expensive..should not compared to other major theme park as their living standard is different..children pricing is also too high, assuming the children age limit is 12, they will most likely not be able to play those more dangerous ride, taking merry go round and bumper car…yet end up paying $48 for it..
Moreover…parents will usually take children to the theme park on weekend, as they need to study and parents need to work, unless during School holidays..not doubt the additional is minimum but it still ex…Whether one can finish all the rides depends on the crowd on that day itself…one may not get much rides…was in tokyo..some of the rides took 1.5 to 2 hours to queue..moreover, i see that may take 2 day to fully explore the theme park…can you imagine during weekends…how many kids or adults will be disappointed as they have to queue…the staff will ask you to come back tomorrow…then you will need to pay again…

To charge another $30-$68 to get express pass on top of the normal charge…better income family to have priority and the average family to queue..that sucks..i do hope there should be 2 pricing, for tourist and Singaporeans..for tourist will comes once or twice,…but Singaporeans might be able to come back quarterly if the cost is not expensive..

I think this is a bit too expensive cause the price is way higher than other attractions in Singapore, since this is in Singapore, its should be compared to other Singapore Attractions instead of overseas ones. I think if there is not like others like Disneyland in Japan or USA, than the price is not worth it, at least it must be as fun as Japan’s or Australia’s is compared to Universal Studio if really want to compare to overseas.
